Interwoven

Evanisko Project

With the theme of “Connections”, this project is a monument to three years of student work done for the Evanisko Project, a series of campaigns to better improve the life of students at the Pattee and Paterno library at Penn State University. Interwoven is an exhibition created to highlight that past work. During the duration of the project, the junior designers were divided into a number of teams to focus on a specific area of the exhibition. I was a part of the branding and installation teams. As part of the branding team, we were in charge of creating the basis of all the other team’s work, and as a part of the installation team, the main exhibit people would be visiting.

In tandem with our theme, Interwoven was based around the invisible string theory; the idea that the universe is connected by unseen threads that leads us to our destinies. It says the path isn't straight but winding and ever changing with time. To encapsulate that, Interwoven uses an organic and humanistic style that shows the dynamic way of life. Our lives weave in and out of each other and when the time comes when our strings overlap, we create new bonds tying us together. Interwoven was created to overlap our threads to connect it’s visitors on a deeper level.

The final project was set up in the library, with an installation in the center of it all showcasing the selected student work made over the past few years. Each attendee was given a brochure we designed, as well as a number of take away items featuring our mascot, affectionately nicknamed “dude”. It currently stands to this day as a reminder of student connections in the Penn State community.
