Night Shift

Film Festival
Have you ever sold your soul? Let yourself be used by an unfeeling and uncaring monstrosity for what amounts to pennies in return? No? Let me rephrase that. Have you ever worked a job under capitalism that forces everything out of you, that takes your motivation, worth, sanity, and health for a paycheck that won’t cover what they took from you? Perhaps not. But maybe you’ve been through something similar. The film festival, Night Shift, brought that concept to it’s logical conclusion, and depicting a company offering a position that’s taken lives- and will continue to keep on doing so, by gaslighting, manipulating, (if not outright hypnotizing) the viewer into accepting a position that very clearly will hurt them.

I designed a poster for the festival to advertise the festival while showing off its theme. The poster itself is layers of other shoddily done posters, with in the center
is what, at a first glance, looks like a very normal job offering. But when you look a bit closer at the posters it’s plastered above, it will become clear something is wrong. The background posters will be a mix of manipulating “motivational” posters that urge you to sell your soul and destroy your health, and newspaper articles depicting the untimely deaths of prior night shift workers.
